Will and I met in the summer of August 2004 and he immediately swept me off my feet. I tried not to fall in love so quickly but I just couldn’t help it. But I knew in my heart I was hopelessly in love with him.
By February 2005 Will unfortunately had to move back to California to finish his Bachelor’s. I was devastated. We spoke on the phone every day for hours. Two months later he sent me a plane ticket to come visit him. As soon as we seen one another we knew we didn’t ever want to be without each other again. We completed each other! So…I moved to California to be with him. Two years later we moved back to New Jersey and in six months bought a townhouse together. A townhouse before a ring?! People thought we were crazy for buying something together without a commitment, but we knew that the commitment was our house, and I knew that the other commitment would come later down the road.
We decided to go to Maryland for Christmas this past 2008. Will hadn’t seen his grandparents in some time and they were very special to him as they had a part in raising him. We drove down on Christmas Eve. That night we went to his grandparent’s house for dinner. I was sitting on the couch talking to his grandparents and parents when Will walks up to me and said “I have one more gift for you but I didn’t wrap it so you have to close your eyes.” Now this didn’t surprise me because we had already exchanged gifts with each other that morning before we left for Maryland and he had been so busy with his new job that he didn’t have time to wrap any of the gifts. So I smiled at him and with a giggle said “you’re making this too easy for me”. I closed my eyes and when he said “ok open them” I looked up and he wasn’t standing in front of me anymore, he was down on one knee proposing! Of course I said YES!
The ring Will picked out is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Thank you to Frank V. and Bentley Diamond. We certainly will be returning when it’s time to shop for our wedding bands. Here’s to October 1, 2010!
