Mike and Kara
It was not love at first sight for us. Four years ago Mike pulled me over, because he said I ran a red light. I decided to fight the ticket and we went to court. During traffic court I realized he was cute and surprisingly very nice. After our battle in court we stayed friends and eventually began dating. I still maintain that the traffic light was, in fact, yellow. In response he always smiles, shakes his head and replies, "I just should have let your car go".
The way we met seemed to set the tone for our relationship. Screw ups and mishaps just became a part of "us". Over the years we have learned to laugh over the imperfections. Therefore, it was not surprising that Mike planned proposal got messed up either. My mother accidentally slipped that Mike had asked for permission thinking I had known the proposal was coming. Conscience that he was going to I thought he would ask on what we dubbed our anniversary. Otherwise known as "Ticket Day". This time good fortune surprised us when he caught me off guard three weeks earlier than our anniversary.
It was this night we decided to walk the boardwalk after dinner. I was freezing and said lets go back to the car. He said to wait he had a question for me. Than Mike asked how I felt about spending the rest of my life with him. Getting down on one knee he took out the box, with the most beautiful ring inside.
I was shocked and immediately started to cry standing there in the dark. Mike still had not received a response, and since he could not see my reaction he ask, "Kara?" Of course, I said "Yes!" I later realized walking back to the car he had taken me to the exact place on the boardwalk we had our first kiss years before.
